After signing with Orlando last March, Spencer Kersten finished second on the team in scoring during the post-season.

The Orlando Solar Bears are happy to announce Spencer Kersten will return to the club for the 2024-25 season, agreeing to terms on an ECHL Standard Player contract.

The rookie forward from Waterloo, Ontario signed with the Solar Bears last March after completing his collegiate career at Bowling Green University.

The 24-year-old Kersten made an immediate impact with Orlando, recording four goals and two assists for six points in 10 regular season games.

His biggest contribution came in the post-season, when he finished second on the team in playoff scoring with nine points (6-3-9) over 11 games. His six goals were the second-most in a single playoff season in Solar Bears history, behind Hunter Fejes, who tallied seven in the 2019 Kelly Cup Playoffs.

The 5-foot-10, 187-pound forward played in 36 games with Bowling Green last season and scored 16 points (9-7-16). He also played for Princeton from 2019-23, netting 38 points (15-23-38) in 93 games and served as team captain during the 2022-23 season. Kersten was also a three-time ECAC All-Academic honoree at Princeton.

Prior to college, Kersten played three seasons of junior hockey, including two with the Oakville Blades of the OJHL. He led the club in scoring during the 2018-19 season with 60 points (20-40-60). He helped Oakville capture the regular season title that year and added 24 points (12-12-24) in the playoffs, leading the Blades to the Dudley-Hewitt Cup.
