Growing the sport of hockey at the grassroots level is crucial to keeping it alive and thriving in communities all over the world.
The Reading Royals offer multiple on-ice youth camps each summer for beginners and experienced youth hockey players through its Jr. Royals program. Campers receive instructions from professional players and coaches who have put in the hard work to get where they are.
The age range is 6-16 years old, and campers even get a free jersey.
The first camp, which is for players of all skill levels, takes place the week of June 16-20. The second, a more skating-intensive camp, will be held the week of July 14-18.
The final camp, which is exclusive to the Jr. Royals program, will be Aug. 11-15.
All camps will be held at the Body Zone Sports and Wellness Complex. The All Skills and Jr. Royals camps feature two hours of daily ice time, while the skating-intensive camp is three hours. Instruction is provided by players and coaches from the Royals.
Off-ice training is also included, and campers will get a jersey and t-shirt.
The camps are presented by the Reading Royals Youth Hockey Association (RRYHA), which offers ice hockey programs and training for children and youth based in and around Berks County, Pennsylvania. The program, established in 2019, is committed to growing and promoting hockey and developing a player’s skills and abilities in a positive, supportive environment.
