Matt Radomsky of the Rapid City Rush has been named the Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Feb. 3-9, the league announced Monday.
The 25-year-old Winnipeg native went 2-0-0 with a 1.39 goals-against average and a .958 save percentage last week in Idaho against the Steelheads.
Radomsky’s most impressive performance of the two may have been in a relief role. He was sprung into action Friday night when Rush starting goalie Christian Propp was injured on a goal scored by the Steelheads.
In only his second appearance in 20 days, Radomsky saved all 15 shots he saw in the third frame and overtime, then stopped all three in the shootout to earn the victory for the Rush.
During his other appearance against Idaho last week, Radomsky came just 21 seconds shy of getting a shutout. He stopped the first 46 shots he saw before the Steelheads scored two late goals for a 5-2 final.
Through 19 games this season, Radomsky is 6-10-2 with a 3.68 GAA and .880 SP.
Under contract to the AHL’s Calgary Wranglers, Radomsky has appeared in 60 games for the Rush over two seasons. During that span, he has a 22-32-4 record, a 3.84 GAA and .887 SP. His six victories lead all Rapid City goaltenders this season.
The 6-foot-2, 192-pound Radomsky is the first Rush netminder to receive the Goaltender of the Week honor since Adam Carlson did it in March of 2019.
Rapid City returns home for a three-game series Feb. 13-15 against the Maine Mariners at Monument Ice Arena.
