Trailing by a goal entering the third period of Game 2, the Idaho Steelheads scored two goals, including the go-ahead tally from Ty Pelton-Byce, to even their series with Kansas City.

Three different skaters found the back of the net for Idaho, while goaltender Bryan Thomson turned aside 27 of 29 shots on goal, improving to 3-1 with a 2.54 goals-against average and 0.920 save percentage in five appearances this postseason.

Despite being outshot 13-8 in the first period, the Kansas City Mavericks took a 1-0 lead with under four minutes left on David Cotton's fourth goal of the playoffs and third in his last two games.

Less than seven minutes into the second period, Idaho evened the score on Jordan Kawaguchi's first goal of the playoffs. The Mavericks briefly regained the lead on Cole Coskey's goal on the 5-on-3 power play late in the frame.

Into the third period, Keaton Mastrodonato provided the equalizer on a slick centering feed from Kawaguchi to beat Kansas City netminder Jack LaFontaine. Just over four minutes later, Pelton-Byce scored the go-ahead goal on a rebound after Idaho led a 3-on-2 rush into the offensive zone.

Including his goal on Sunday and a primary assist in Game 1 on Saturday, Pelton-Byce leads all ECHL skaters with 14 points (4-10-14) in the Kelly Cup Playoffs.

The series now shifts to Boise, Idaho for Game 3 when the Steelheads host Games 3 and 4 from Idaho Central Arena, beginning Wednesday, May 8.
