The Orlando Solar Bears, ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning, announced Monday the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League reassigned defenseman Djibril Touré to the Solar Bears from the Belleville Senators of the American Hockey League.
Additionally, the Solar Bears have activated forward Ryan O'Reilly and placed defenseman Hudson Thornton and forward Milo Roelens on reserve.
Touré, 21, skated in 24 regular season games for Orlando this season, tallying eight points (1-7-8) and 41 penalty minutes.
In 36 AHL games with the Belleville Senators this season, Touré tallied six points (2-4-6) with 57 penalty minutes.
The 6-foot-7, 210-pound rearguard signed a three-year, entry-level deal with the Ottawa Senators in September of 2023.
The Dorval, Quebec native spent the 2023-24 season with the Sudbury Wolves and Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League, scoring 18 points (8-10-18) and accumulating 69 penalty minutes in 45 regular-season games.
The Solar Bears could certainly use Touré’s help. They trail the South Carolina Stingrays 2-0 in their South Division Semifinal series, which shifts from North Charleston to Orlando for games 3, 4 and 5.
If necessary, games 6 and 7 of the first round will be back at the North Charleston Coliseum on Apr. 27 and Apr. 29.
The Stingrays have beaten Orlando in two previous South division Semifinals matchups: 2018 in five games and 2019 in four games.
Puck drop for Game 3 on Monday is set for 7 Pm ET.
