With fresh eyes and a new franchise, the Trenton Ironhawks have begun to build their identity. One of the most important decisions is selecting the bench boss. The decision for the Ironhawks came with hiring experience, and they announced on June 16th that Chuck Weber will be heading the bench as the first head coach in Trenton franchise history. 

The Ironhawks are preparing for their inaugural season, and they have entrusted that rookie season to one of the most respected coaches in professional hockey to lay the foundation. Weber has a track record of championships, playing a part in player development, and establishing strong cultures. He was a natural choice to guide Trenton. 

Very few coaches come into the ECHL with his résumé. He was part of the Cincinnati Cyclones Kelly Cup Championships in the 2008 and 2010 seasons. Along the road, he earned recognition as a coach and the John Brophy Award as the ECHL Coach of the Year in 2008. Those accolades were more than just talent. The teams Weber built became known for the consistency, the structure, and their ability to perform. Qualities that every franchise hopes to establish from day one. 

A first-year team faces challenges of assembling a roster and creating an identity. Having that coach who has already navigated the high-pressure situations at the professional level provides the stability that an organization is looking for. 

Weber's coaching career comes with experience in different leagues. He has coached in the American Hockey League. He has worked at the collegiate level and has international experience. Recently, he guided the Great Britain team to success at the international stage. His background gives Weber a perspective for managing players from different paths.
