After joining the Oilers at last year's trade deadline, Austin Albrecht returns for the 2024-25 season.
The Tulsa Oilers announced Friday the re-signing of Austin Albrecht for the upcoming ECHL season.
The 28-year-old two-way forward, acquired from the Maine Mariners at the trade deadline, notched 21 points (6 goals, 15 assists) in 51 games between the two clubs. He also spent some time down under this summer, recording 60 points (24-36-60) in 18 games with the Melbourne Ice of the Australian Ice Hockey League.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound Flemington, New Jersey native has 38 points (14-24-38) in 81 career ECHL games between Indy, Maine, Wichita and Tulsa. Albrecht also spent time in the SPHL, registering 26 points (6-20-26) in 31 games. He's also seen action in the EIHL and the German Oberliga.
In two seasons of collegiate hockey with UMass and American International College, Albrecht potted 11 goals and 15 assists for 26 points in 61 games. He finished his junior career in the USHL, potting 10 goals and 35 assists in 57 games with Sioux Falls and Muskegon after picking up 83 points (35-48-83) in 110 games with the NAHL's Wichita Falls Wildcats from 2014-16.
Along with scoring, Albrecht brings size and shot-blocking ability, qualities Tulsa head coach Rob Murray is particularly impressed with.
"Austin was a piece we really wanted back," Murray said after the signing was announced. "While he was disappointed with his lack of offensive output with us after his acquisition from Maine, he's proven over his career he can produce consistently at this level. After re-finding his scoring touch over the summer in Australia, I'm eager to see what he brings to the table starting the season with us."
