Defensemen Jacob Modry and Logan Britt will be back for another season with Greenville.

The Greenville Swamp Rabbits have announced the return of defensemen Jacob Modry and Logan Britt, having signed both players for the 2024-25 ECHL season.

Modry, 25, started the 2023-24 season with the Newfoundland Growlers, tallying two goals and two assists in 20 games. The Swamp Rabbits acquired Modry in a trade with the Growlers, and he appeared in 22 games to finish the season.

The El Segundo, California native made his professional debut at the end of the 2022-23 season with the Savannah Ghost Pirates, recording one assist in three games. Before turning pro, he spent two years playing collegiate hockey at the NCAA's Merrimack College before spending his last two years with NCAA Division III SUNY-Plattsburgh.

Modry has bought in to the Swamp Rabbits' stalwart defensive scheme and credits them with helping him make the transition from just using his skills to being a shutdown defender.

"I really believe in the culture that we're building here," Modry said following the signing. "I believe in the process, and coming in late December when I did, I saw how important hockey and winning are to our fans. It's an exciting time to be back in Greenville."

Modry is the son of Jaroslav Modry, who played in 725 NHL games and is currently an assistant coach with the AHL's Springfield Thunderbirds.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Britt made his professional debut with Greenville last April, finishing the season with one assist in four regular season games. He appeared in five Kelly Cup Playoff games and recorded another assist.

A native of Crystal Lake, Illinois, Britt came to the Swamp Rabbits after completing his collegiate hockey career with the University of North Dakota. He registered 14 points (7-7-14) and appeared in the NCAA Tournament. He also played for Sacred Heart University and Quinnipiac. In five collegiate seasons, he totaled 54 points (15-39-54) along with a +31 rating in 171 games.

Britt's main focus is on development, knowing professional hockey is a big step up from college.

"It's going to be a challenging year in all the right ways," Britt said after his signing. "The professional season is longer than college, so it's about weathering adversity and challenges that come my way as I continue to develop in the professional game. I'm excited for the team we have and the year that lies ahead, and can't wait to get back to Greenville this October."
