The Wichita Thunder have added to their defense corps.

The team has announced the signing of defenseman Ty Gibson for the 2025-26 season.

Gibson, 22, enters his second year as a pro. A native of Victoria, British Columbia, the 5-foot-9, 185-pound blueliner played his rookie campaign last season with the Adirondack Thunder. In 59 games, he collected nine assists.

Prior to turning pro, Gibson spent the majority of his four-year junior career with the Western Hockey League's Everett Silvertips. He was dealt to the Regina Pats midway through the 2023-24 season.

Gibson finished with 71 points (10-61-71) in 215-career WHL games.

Durability is one of Gibson’s biggest attributes. In 2022-23, he appeared in 66 contests for the Silvertips. He was one of only three 19-year-olds on the club’s roster that season.
