This weekend, fans of Thunder Nation can take part in a walk/run fundraiser for local children.

As the 2024-25 season approaches, the Wichita Thunder is continuing to make a difference in the community, and the club is calling on all fans of Thunder Nation to pitch in.

This Saturday, the Thunder is hosting the first annual Kicks for Kids 2-Mile Walk/Run fundraiser. The event will start at 4 Pm and will be held at the Genesis Sports Complex on Prairie Sunset Trail in Goddard, benefiting the Genesis Foundation for Fitness and Tennis.

The complex is just a five-minute drive outside Wichita. All proceeds will go toward the Kicks for Kids program, which provides new athletic shoes to under-resourced children in the community.

The benefit includes:

  • Walk/Run Fees for 1, all ages welcome.
  • Event T-shirt and swag.
  • Free entry into the Burgers and Beer celebration party following the event.
  • A fireworks show.
  • Food and drinks.

The food and drinks will be available while supplies last. Attendees must be 21 or older to drink, and will be ID’d.

Those who wish to only take part in the celebration party and not the walk/run event may gather on the front lawn of the complex’s north end at 5 Pm for a suggested donation of $20.

The celebration features yard games, kids’ activities, a DJ and more.

Interested participants can register for the event here.
