The Wichita Thunder will have a special guest at their Nov. 2 home game against the Rapid City Rush. Blippi, the upbeat internet kids entertainer, is coming to Intrust Bank Arena.
If you’re not sure who Blippi (aka Stevin John” is, then you probably don’t have a child under the age of five. Either that, or you don’t frequent YouTube.
Outfitted in orange suspenders, a bowtie and glasses, Blippi takes kids four and under on a play journey with simple yet riveting videos toddlers can relate to. One blogger describes him as Mr. Rogers, Elmo and Dr. Seuss all rolled into one.
John is a normal dad who served in the Air Force and became a marketing consultant. The Las Vegas resident took an interest in video production and came up with the Blippi concept as a way to entertain his two-year-old nephew.
In easy-to-follow detail coupled with the energy of a two-year-old, Blippi explains everything from animals to space through educational videos. That marketing background has certainly served him well, as Blippi now has millions of YouTube followers.
Kids can meet this curious character on the concourse at Intrust Bank Arena during Saturday’s game. The Thunder will offer Blippi four packs, which include four tickets to the game and two Blippi glasses. Fans can purchase their tickets here.
Wichita swept a pair of games with the Tulsa Oilers last weekend, winning 4-3 in overtime at home on Friday and 6-2 Saturday in Tulsa. The Thunder will be on the road Wednesday in Allen against the Americans before coming back to Intrust Bank Arena for this weekend’s matchup with Rapid City.
Friday’s game is Poster Schedule Night, presented by Wichita Brewing Company and Rose Harvest Design. Puck drop is set for 7:05 Pm CT. Saturday’s Blippi Night game is scheduled for 6:05 Pm CT.
