Jacob Hayhurst had 37 goals and 76 points for the Kansas City Mavericks during the 2023-24 ECHL season

Jacob Hayhurst is heading overseas. The Kansas City Mavericks forward has signed a one-year contract for the 2024-25 season with the Västerås IK of the HockeyAllsvenskan, the second-highest league in the Swedish ice hockey system.

Hayhurst, 27, enjoyed his best professional season this past year, scoring 37  goals and 39 assists, making his 76 points the third-highest on Kansas  City's roster.

After a career-best regular season, he was a key cog in the Mavericks' run to the Kelly Cup Finals. Hayhurst finished with five goals and 11 assists. His 16 points were tied for the second-most among Kansas City skaters in the postseason.

Hayhurst notably scored the game-winning goal in Game 1 of the ECHL Western  Conference Finals to end the Toledo Walleye's historic 22-game win streak.

Prior to Kansas City, the forward spent the previous three seasons between the ECHL and AHL levels. Hayhurst recorded a then-career-best 48 points with the Worcester Railers during the 2021-22 season.
