The Kalamazoo Wings will be without forwards David Keefer and Josh Passolt next year. The two are set to join the Pioneers Vorarlberg squad of the Austrian League for the 2024-25 season.
Keefer, 26, posted 17 goals and 31 assists for the Wings this past season, making his 48 points the third-most on the Kalamazoo roster. The Howell, Michigan, native joined the Wings after finishing up his senior season at Northern Michigan University, where he served as an alternate captain in his final year and scored 15 goals and 25 points in 38 games played.
Upon joining Kalamazoo, Keefer made an instant impact, recording four goals and five assists, totaling nine points in only nine games played. Kalamazoo signed him to a Standard Player Contract in August.
Likewise, Passolt enjoyed a breakout campaign with the Wings this past season. The 27-year-old scored the second-most goals (25) and points (50) for Kalamazoo. Passolt signed with the AHL's Abbotsford Canucks over the summer and primarily played in the ECHL during the 2023-24 season but also saw seven games in the American League.
Prior to Kalamazoo, Passolt spent part of two seasons with the Cincinnati Cyclones, notably tallying 25 goals and 47 goals in the ECHL last season after being signed to a Standard Player Contract following his senior season at Western Michigan in April 2022.
