© John E. Sokolowski-USA TODAY Sports - From the ECHL's Newfoundland Growlers to the Heights of the NHL, Bobby McMann Has Earned Every Bit of his Contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs

Bobby McMann earned his brand-new two-year NHL contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs the old fashioned way, he worked for it.

McMann, 27, has played his way into a key role with the 2023-24 Maple Leafs, becoming a fixture on their third line and secondary power play unit, earning a two-year NHL contract worth an average annual value of the contract is $1.35 million.

McMann's road to the show was anything but linear. Prior to turning pro, McMann recorded 92 points (37G, 55A) in 145 career NCAA games with Colgate University. McMann served as captain during the 2019-20 season and was named to the NCAA (ECAC) Third All-Star Team in 2018-19.

He split time between the ECHL and AHL for the better part of four years, joining the Leafs' system in the 2020-21 season following an 18 game, 17 point run with the Wichita Thunder of the ECHL. He'd put up four points in 21 games with the AHL's Marlies in 20-21 and go a point-per game in four outings with the ECHL's Newfoundland Growlers.

McMann would suit up for 10 NHL games in the 2022-23 season with the Buds, earning one point, but it would be another two years before he'd truly find his groove.

In 40 games with the Leafs this season McMann has 10 goals and 18 points, with a whopping seven of those goals coming in just five games back in February.

McMann is a gritty, versatile two-way forward not afraid to get dirty in-front of the net, providing an ample source of secondary scoring for the Leafs. He's earned every inch of his new contract with the Maple Leafs.
