The ECHL announced Tuesday that Jacksonville Icemen left winger Chris Grando is the Inglasco ECHL Player of the Week for Jan. 6-12.

It was quite a week for the native of Islip, N.Y. Grando scored five goals and added three assists in three games for a +8.

Four of those eight points on the week came when he delivered a hat trick and an assist in a 5-2 victory over the Greenville Swamp Rabbits Jan. 8. He also scored a pair of goals and added an assist in a 4-1 win over the Atlanta Gladiators Jan. 10 and dished out another helper in a 5-1 triumph over the South Carolina Stingrays Jan. 11.

The 26-year-old Grando currently has 20 points (10-10-20) in 35 games with Jacksonville this season. He has 75 points (29-46-75) in 119 career games with the Icemen.

Before beginning his pro career, the 5-foot-10, 172-pound left-shot winger played in 166 NCAA games with Arizona State and Boston College, collecting 64 points (26-38-64). His major junior career was spent with the Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League, where he recorded 54 points (22-32-54) in 115 career games.

On behalf of Chris Grando, Inglasco will donate a case of pucks to a Jacksonville youth hockey organization. Since beginning its sponsorship of the Player of the Week award in 2000-01, Inglasco, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL, has donated more than 51,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
