Matt Anderson was Toledo's second-highest scoring defenseman in 2023-24, finishing with 34 points on 13 goals and 21 assists in 68 games.

Matt Anderson has earned himself an AHL contract for the 2024-25 season. The Toronto Marlies have signed the Toledo Walleye defenseman after an impressive 2023-24 campaign, in which Anderson finished as the second-highest-scoring blueliner on the roster.

The 25-year-old recorded 13 goals and 34 points during the regular season and added nine points in 14 playoff games. Despite a slow start to the year, Anderson picked it up around the All-Star break, ending the first half in five of his last seven games. He carried that momentum into the second half, where he tallied 15 points on six goals and nine assists.

Anderson was one of Toledo's most consistent defensemen in the 2024 Kelly Cup Playoffs, tallying points in eight of 14 games. He played in a small sample size with the Marlies during the regular season, accumulating three points (all assists) in three games played.

After spending part of the last three seasons primarily in the ECHL, Anderson will look to carve out a permanent role at the AHL level.
