Oskari Salminen is back in the ECHL after being reassigned from the Manitoba Moose to the Norfolk Admirals on Monday. The 24-year-old goaltender started Norfolk's Game 1 of the North Division Semifinals matchup against Trois-Rivieres, stopping 33 of 35 and picking up the win.
Shortly thereafter, Salminen was recalled to start Manitoba's penultimate game of the regular season against the Texas Stars. The Finnish netminder got the start, turning aside five of seven shots on goal before being lifted.
Salminen accumulated a 2.82 goals-against average and 0.897 save percentage in 12 outings for Norfolk during the 2023–24 regular season. Likewise, he posted a 4.00 goals-against average and 0.867 save percentage in 12 games for Manitoba at the AHL level.
Salminen gives the Admirals another option in net behind Yaniv Perets, who has a 0.910 save percentage (61 of 67) in Norfolk's first two games of the North Division Finals. The Admirals have a 2-0 lead over the Adirondack Thunder, with the series shifting back to Virigina for Wednesday's Game 3.
