Shutouts, standouts, and improbable sports success stories highlight our first ECHL roundup of December 2023.

Rapid City's Rhett Kingston's Amazing Story

26-year-old Rhett Kingston is only eight games into his tenure with the Rapid City Rush, but his inspiring story is lifting teammates and wowing fans, endearing him to the ECHL faithful and beyond.

Kingston plays the game of pro hockey with only three fingers on his right hand, yet has achieved more than many of his peers with a full set.

Kingston previously put up 23 goals and 47 points with the Macon Mayhem of the SPHL in 2022-23 before suiting up for three games with the Ghost Pirates that same year.

He's scored a goal with eight penalty minutes through eight games with the Rush, though his goal-scoring prowess is sure to endear him to the Rapid City fans.

“I don’t think there’s any issue,” said Kingston in an interview with the Fuel. “I just go out there and do my best and wherever the game takes you, it takes you.”
