The Greenville Swamp Rabbits are on a run.

Winners of seven straight with nine wins in their past 10 games, the Swamp Rabbits, with a strong +20 GF/GA differential and a lean 147 accrued penalty minutes across 16 games, sit atop the Eastern Conference with 28 points.

In last night's 5-0 route of the struggling Atlanta Gladiators (4-6 in their last 10 after an eight-game win streak to start the season), goaltender Ryan Bednard made franchise history as the first Greenville goaltender to earn seven shutouts.

Bednard, a 2015 seventh-round draft selection of the Florida Panthers, made his pro debut with the Swamp Rabbits in 2019-20, suiting up for 24 games with the club, finishing with a 2.99 GAA and .908 SP and one shutout, in a season where he played eight games with the AHL's Springfield Thunderbirds.

Bouncing around between the ECHL and AHL in subsequent seasons with stints with the E's South Carolina Stingrays and Wheeling Nailers, Bednard would earn another five shutouts with the Swamp Rabbits ahead of last night's record-setter; four in 2020-21, and one in 2022-23.

The Swamp Rabbits are currently led in points by the potent trio of Carter Souch (16 points), Brett Kemp (14 points), and Brannon McManus (14 points).
