On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy managers to stream or roster for the rest of the season. The recommended players and goalies are rostered in less than 50 percent of Yahoo leagues and can be selected in standard fantasy leagues and/or for daily fantasy games.
Jake Sanderson, D, OTT at BUF (99% rostered) - FanDuel $6,300
There’s a lot of upside given Sanderson’s broad category coverage and PP1 usage against a team that’s probably struggling the most in the league right now. Sanderson has registered at least three shots per game so far this season and scored two of his three points on the power play.
Mikhail Sergachev, D, UTA vs. CGY (95% rostered) – FanDuel $6,100
Sergachev hasn’t found the score sheet yet this season but given how much he plays and his role as PP1 QB, it’s only a matter of time. The Flames’ goaltending has been unexpectedly weak this season and Utah won all three of their matchups last season, scoring 13 goals. Even if Sergachev doesn’t score, he generally provides a high floor with blocks.
Seth Jones, D, FLA at DET (91% rostered) – FanDuel $5,400
I don’t think there’s a lot separating Jones and Aaron Ekblad, but for DFS play I prefer Jones just for the potential value. Both play PP1 though Ekblad may have a bit more potential blocks because he’s on the top pairing with Gustav Forsling.
Bowen Byram, D, BUF vs. OTT (11% rostered) – FanDuel $5,600
Admittedly, Byram can be really frustrating in fantasy because he’s an immensely talented player who skates around with the puck a lot but doesn’t always accomplish much with it. He’s averaging 25 minutes per game but so far has zero points and two shots. The good news is the Sens defense and goaltending have been really leaky so far, allowing 14 goals through three games. At this salary, I find Byram provides very little potential for value, so I'd give a stronger recommendation for him as a streaming option instead.
