Who wins a pivotal Group A matchup in NHL 24?

Our first simulation of a 2024 IIHF Men's World Championship game, we simulated Canada versus Finland in NHL 24 ahead of their Saturday matchup.

Despite only having three NHL players on the roster, Finland was able to take this game 3-2 in the sixth round of a shootout.

We used the lines from both teams most recent games, slightly adjusting Finland's lines to even out the overall disparity.

Colton Parayko played 33 minutes and notched two assists. Canada got goals from Nick Paul and Andrew Mangiapane. They went 0-6 in the shootout.

Saku Maenalanen and Iiro Pakarinen scored for Finland, Vili Saarijarvi scored the shootout winner.

Harri Sateri made 22 saves in regulation and six in the shootout. Jordan Binnington made 21 saves in regulation and five in the shootout.

Finland is coming off a tough loss to Austria while Canada recently defeated Norway 4-1 after nearly blowing a five-goal lead to Austria.
