Simulating Colorado vs. Dallas Game 2 in NHL 24. Can the Stars even up the series?

Game 1 from our series simulation for Colorado versus Dallas had the Avalanche taking it 5-3. The score prediction wasn't accurate but NHL 24 guessed the correct winner as Colorado took Game 1 in real life 4-3 in overtime after coming back from a 3-0 deficit.

Hopefully, EA is wrong in predicting how Game 2 will transpire as the simulation was a bit of a snooze fest. NHL 24 anticipates a 3-1 win for the home team.

Dallas' Head Coach Pete DeBoer tweaked his lines in the third period of Game 1, so we decided to have our lineup for the Stars match those changes he made.

    Dallas' Projected Lines:

    Robertson - Hintz - Johnston
    Benn - Duchene - Stankoven
    Pavelski - Steel - Seguin
    Dadonov - Faksa - Smith

    Harley - Heiskanen
    Lindell - Tanev
    Suter - Lundkvist

    Oettinger
    Wedgewood

    Colorado's Projected Lines:

    Nichushkin - MacKinnon - Rantanen
    Lehkonen - Mittelstadt - Parise
    Wood - Colton - Wagner
    Duhaime - Trenin - Cogliano

    Toews - Makar
    Girard - Manson
    Johnson - Walker

    Georgiev
    Annunen

Dallas dominated the first period outshooting Colorado 14-4 and up 1-0 thanks to a Miro Heiskanen goal.

Cale Makar reeled the Avs back into the game scoring a highlight-reel goal off the rush early in the second to tie the game up 1-1. The defensemen took over this game as Thomas Harley answered back for the Stars scoring a nice forehand-backhand goal.

Colorado was down by one with the clock ticking down when of course Ross Colton took a classic AI tripping penalty with less than 90 seconds left in the game. Joe Pavelski would bury an empty-netter and seal the victory for Dallas.

Miro Heiskanen was the first start in this match factoring in on all three of Dallas' goals.

Alexander Georgiev was the busier netminder of the two and made 27 saves on 29 shots. Jake Oettinger only faced 18 shots as Colorado failed to record double digits in shots in a period.
