EA SPORTS announced via their Twitter early Friday afternoon that NHL 24 will be running Double XP this weekend until 9pm PST on Sunday, May 12.
This is perfect as the EASHL Season 4 Club Finals begin today. World of Chel players can rank up their Battle Pass faster before they miss out on obtaining the rewards and cosmetics within the Battle Pass when the season ends.
Important to note that the Double XP active token only applies to Battle Pass progression and is available for use in all game modes except Pro-Am.
This sparks another conversation regarding how meaningless a player's level within World of Chel really is.
I've been playing EASHL since NHL 24 was released and I'm currently Prestige 3, level 14. It means diddly-squat. Your rank within the game doesn't get you any extra perks or cool cosmetics. Outside of every 25 levels you get a new stick, which frankly is the most bland-looking stick you'll see.
EA SPORTS doesn't want to revert to the old system where you can increase your player's attributes through leveling up. That's understandable as it creates a very unfair advantage for players of a much higher rank than their opponents.
But they could offer up more rewards for leveling up in World of Chel. Give players a unique celly if they reach the maximum level. Give them fancier, snappy-looking helmets and gloves that stand out more so players can show off their rank.
EA every year improves their player customization for the World of Chel community. However, there is still so much more they could do, and I would like for them to offer players more reasons to grind and level up their rank.
