Can the Toronto Maple Leafs afford both Tyler Bertuzzi and Max Domi?

The Athletic and TSN’s, Pierre LeBrun, has reported that there is mutual interest between Bertuzzi and Domi and the club to reunite for more than just one-year contracts. The Maple Leafs are discussing potential multi-year deals for the two pending UFAs, with both potentially receiving new deals worth five to six million dollars annually.

Bertuzzi is coming off a season where he really struggled in the first half of the year before turning it on in the second half. He finished with 21 goals, and 43 points, and performed well in the playoffs for Toronto with one goal and four points in their seven-game first-round exit.

Domi displayed terrific chemistry with Auston Matthews down the stretch to finish the year as he looked to get the franchise centerman to the 70-goal mark. Max finished his season with only nine goals, but 38 assists, and over 100 penalty minutes. He too finished with one goal and four points in the playoffs, which was tied with Matthews for the most points by a Toronto player in the playoffs.

In our video linked to the article, we loaded up NHL 24 to see exactly how much cap space the Maple Leafs would be left with if they signed Bertuzzi and Domi to extensions.

We will continue to retool Toronto’s team for the upcoming 2024-25 NHL season using NHL 24 Franchise Mode in future articles to come. So, make sure you are checking back to The Hockey News Gaming Site to see how we can build the best possible Maple Leafs roster for next season.
