Islanders center is in the midst of a career year

Mathew Barzal has become the eighth player in NHL 24 Hockey Ultimate Team to receive a 99 overall card. 

Barzal has 22 goals and 73 points in 70 games this season, already having tied his career high in goals.

The 16th overall pick by the Islanders in the 2015 draft, Barzal is the third center to receive a 99 overall card. 

Earlier this year a 93 overall Barzal card was available for free if you completed the corresponding HUT moments, that card is extremely popular in the community and this card is a significant improvement.

This card comes with Elite Edges as it's Zone Ability, five Superstar Abilities and three Synergies. Activating Ankle Breaker or Wheels would make Barzal even more dynamic. 

Unlike some of the other 99s, Barzal does not come with 99 shot blocking, but his 86 endurance is higher than several other of the Fantasy Hockey cards.

Alexis Lafreniere and Juuse Saros recently reached 99 overall, leaving Bowen Byram and Teuvo Teravainen at 97 overall the next most likely players to reach 99.
