Safir and Rahil, Editors of the new Gaming site on The Hockey News, share a little bit about themselves and their backgrounds.
Sayed Safir Sodouri
Sayed Safir Sodouri is a 25-year-old in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada. Safir’s family came to Canada as refugees from Afghanistan when he was just four years old. He stumbled upon a Leafs game in 2010, which sparked his interest in hockey.
Growing up, Safir did not have the means to play ice hockey. Instead, he connected with the game by supporting the Toronto Maple Leafs and playing the EA NHL series. He is a passionate hockey fan and journalist specializing in NHL gaming. With over a decade of experience, he has competed in several high-stakes tournaments and covered numerous industry events and emerging trends.
Outside of hockey, Safir works for a tech company and recently completed his Master in Teaching program at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto.
Rahil Vydelingum
Rahil Vydelingum is a 26-year-old currently living in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. Born in Toronto, he first fell in love with the sport of hockey when he started playing road hockey with his neighbours at the age of 9.
Over the years Rahil grew up playing road hockey, organized ball hockey, and eventually discovered the NHL video game series. With his love of gaming and hockey combined Rahil became a passionate hockey fan as well as a passionate fan of the EA NHL series. He has competed in multiple LeagueGaming EASHL seasons, and has been a part of the NHL gaming community for 9+ years.
Rahil works as a Marketing Manager for a Canadian based cleaning company. Outside of hockey you can find Rahil cooking, spending time with his cat and dog, or golfing.
