There are many leagues out there for World Of Chel players, from LeagueGaming to the VGHL. Each of these allows fans to play World Of Chel with a more competitive, realistic, and enjoyable experience. With these leagues you're able to play in meaningful matches, get better at the game, and participate in a league that simulates the real-life hockey we all enjoy. The latest addition to this list of leagues, the MajorHockeyGaming League (MHG) is looking to give more than just a realistic hockey experience. Ran by Daniel Desmarais aka Tidan-16 and Mario Villeneuve aka N3WTXWN_12, these two are looking to make this new league a special one.
They're giving players a $70,000 prize pool. If your team wins in the NHL level, the MHG Stanley Cup Champions will be paid a whopping $10,700 Canadian. The AHL Calder Cup winning team will receive $2400, while the CHL Memorial Cup winners will receive $1200.
Having prize pools across all levels of competition is something that Admin & Media Head ItsKingLyme hopes will bring more of the casual players into the esports scene. Players will proceed through a bidding system, similar to those of other leagues, where owners will "bid" on players similar to the real NHL's free agency period. From there, teams will participate in a 82 game, 9 week regular season, and eventually 4 weeks of playoffs in hopes of winning the championship. We had the chance to sit down with ItsKingLyme to ask him a few questions about the new league.
MHG is open to all levels of play from the novice to the elite esports player. The league allows the novice to average player to hone their skills to become better at the current version of NHL to help them advance to the higher leagues.
The league is actually a company first. Established in 2023, we are independently owned (who wishes to be anonymous at this time) and have a Sales staff used to bring in additional revenue either for the league or tournaments, a website developer who has put together a site that is simple but efficient. The website, which in current BETA testing will be released in mid-September, will allow players to sign up for the league, and choose if they want to play in the normal league, money tournament, or team buy-in tournaments. Players will also have the ability to view player profiles (which include stats, standing, and rankings). We give our owners the ability to have an entire bidding session as well as full access to the day-to-day operations of the team (trades, waivers, callups, and in later seasons, drafts.) Members will have access to a community chat/forum for daily communication with other community members. Our first year, we plan on having 3 seasons of 82 games each (9 weeks 3 games a day 3 nights a week) and 4-week playoff series. All players will enter a bidding session for all 3 tiers of our League (NHL, AHL and CHL) . Our league staff that runs the Day to Day is made up of a CEO, a Vetting team, Director of Hockey, Media (Kinglyme Media), and knowledgeable Moderator Staff. We are paying our Owners every season to show them some appreciation for their hard work and dedication, as well as a bonus plan for the NHL if they make the playoffs and the further they advance in the playoffs. We are also paying the Cup winners at each level. This money is coming from investors as well as corporate sponsorships. We are the only league that we are aware of to do such a thing.
The Ideas came from a group of guys who love esports hockey (including our Company Owner) who ran many team buy-in tournaments. They went out and hired a commissioner of one of the other successful leagues to run the day-to-day operations while they can focus on bringing in additional revenue. Our CEO has brought in staff members who have years of experience as mods and commissioners of other leagues as well as being knowledgeable on the current player base. He also brought in myself (ItsKingLyme) due to my past working in prior leagues as their head of media. Altogether, we are a group of young to older passionate Ehockey players.
Registration for players will open soon, with the regular season planned to start on October 22nd, shortly after the release of NHL 24. If you're wondering about cross-play, this league will take advantage of this feature and be a Cross-Play League.
