Simulating the Rangers vs. Hurricanes series in NHL 24
With the New York Rangers and Carolina Hurricanes second-round series set to get underway on Sunday we simulated the series in NHL 24 to see who came out on top.
Our first-round simulation accurately predicted a Rangers victory over the Capitals.
This will be the third ever playoff matchup between these two teams. Carolina beat New York in a best-of-five series in the 2020 bubble and the Rangers beat the Hurricanes in the 2022 second round.
In this simulation the Hurricanes jumped out to a 3-0 series lead before the Presidents Trophy winning Rangers brought the series all the way back to a Game 7. Carolina was able to grind out the series deciding game 2-1 to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.
Brett Pesce was ruled out for Games 1 and 2 so we did not insert him into the Hurricanes lineup for this series, while Rangers keep the same lineup from their opening series.

Sebastian Aho and Alexis Lafreniere tied for the series lead in scoring with three goals and nine points each. Artemi Panarin lead the series with five goals.
Will Cuylle scored the overtime winner in Game 6 to send the series to Game 7.
Frederik Andersen outplayed Igor Shesterkin throughout the series, as the Rangers goaltender finished with an underwhelming .893 save percentage.
If the real life series is anywhere close to as entertaining as this simulation fans will be in for a wild ride.
