Nylander signs with the New York Islanders in NHL 24

Alex Nylander remains a free agent after being non-tendered after a strong finish to the season with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Given his strong finish, draft pedigree, and recognizable name, we are surprised he has yet to sign with a new team. We simulated free agency in NHL 24 to see where he signs.

In our simulation we ensured that Nylander only played 23 games, the same as he did in real life. He notched 13 points as opposed to 15 in the sim.

Nylander only wanted two-year, two-way contract worth $950,000 from the Blue Jackets. He did not end up signing until September 30th, right before the start of the preseason.

The 26-year-old ended up signing a one-year, two-way deal with the New York Islanders worth $795,000.

The Islanders seemingly have all of their winger slots locked in after re-signing Simon Holmstrom, but Nylander would make sense for them to help provide cheap offense as the Islanders were 22nd in goals for last season.

If he does not sign with New York in real life we could see a team like Carolina or Toronto pursuing him, teams looking to add depth scoring or reunite him with his brother.
