35-year-old signs with Vegas in our prediction

With seven-time 20 goal scorer James van Riemsdyk still available on the free agent market we booted up NHL 24 Franchise Mode to see where he ends up next season.

The 35-year-old scored 11 goals and 38 points in 71 games for the Boston Bruins last season and then added five points in 11 playoff games. He showed his ability to remain impactful on the power play, notching 12 of his points with the man advantage, much of that with Boston's first unit.

In our simulation van Riemsdyk recorded 39 points in 82 games, almost exactly the same production as real life, with 11 more games played.

After asking for $2.750 million on a one-year deal to return to Boston van Riemsdyk lowered his ask to $1.450 million on the open market after not receiving much interest.

He ended up signing a one-year deal worth $1.375 million on August 29th with the Vegas Golden Knights.

With Pavel Dorofeyev, Brendan Brisson, and Alexander Holtz will all be pushing for playing time on Vegas but van Riemsdyk seems like a cheap, under-the-radar signing Vegas would make to bolster their wing depth.

This is ultimately a signing we could see coming to fruition in real life.
