EA Sports NHL typically announces their cover athlete in August, and the speculation for who will be on the cover of NHL 25 has begun as the date inches closer.

In our first in a series of articles where we will discuss who would make the best option for the cover, today we will look at Connor Bedard.

Long considered the next generational player, Bedard was the first overall pick in the 2023 draft, and posted 22 goals and 61 points in 68 games this season, taking home the Calder Trophy.

Bedard is already one of the NHL's most popular players and boasts 758k Instagram followers, fourth most among active players. He also had the highest selling jersey in the NHL last season.

His skill, popularity, and the fact he plays for a big market team are all benefits for both Bedard and EA Sports.

EA Sports has a history of putting young players on the cover, Alex Ovechkin was on the cover of NHL 07 at the beginning of his second season, Patrick Kane on NHL 10 at the beginning of his third season, Connor McDavid at the beginning of his fourth season, and Trevor Zegras on NHL 23 at the beginning of his third season.

The Chicago Blackhawks posted a great video of Bedard and Nick Foligno competing in NHL 94 earlier this season, a sign he would be a good marketer for the franchise.
