Canada defeats Finland in the finals to win the inaugural 4 Nations Face-Off in our simulation

With the 4 Nations Face-Off set to get underway later today we simulated the tournament in NHL 25.

We used the most recent line combinations available but did the simulation before Filip Gustavsson was named starter for Sweden against Canada so Linus Ullmark was in net for Tre Kronor in our results.

Ultimately Finland finished first after the round robin but lost 5-4 to Canada in the finals.

Lines and simulation results are below.

The round robin was very even, Finland finished in first with seven points, Canada second with five, and USA and Sweden with three each. Finland was the lone team to win two games in regulation, Canada won two games, Sweden won one game in regulation while the USA won a game in overtime.

Finland beat Canada 5-4 and Sweden 2-0. Canada beat Sweden 8-7 and USA 5-4 in overtime. Sweden beat USA 4-1 and USA beat Finland 5-4 in overtime.

Nathan MacKinnon led the tournament with seven goals and 13 points in four games, Sidney Crosby trailed just behind with 12 points while Connor McDavid had nine. Sam Reinhart and Sebastian Aho rounded out the top five with seven points each.

The USA and Sweden both had trouble scoring, Matt Boldy led the Americans in scoring with three points in three games while Rasmus Dahlin led Sweden with four in three.

The goalies had a rough tournament, as none who played a full game posted a save percentage above .900.
