Simulating a pivotal game for Slovakia in NHL 24

Another entry into our 2024 Men's IIHF World Championship series, today we simulated Sweden versus Slovakia.

This is the final preliminary round game for these two teams before the Quarter Finals.

Sweden sits atop Group B and leads the tournament with 18 points and a perfect 6-0 record. Slovakia is fourth in Group B with a 3-1-1-1 record and 12 points.

We used the lines from each teams most recent games, with FIlip Gustavsson and Samuel Hlavaj starting in goal.

Slovakia was able to take this game 2-1 in overtime on a goal by Lukas Cingel. Martin Pospisil recorded two assists and goaltender Samuel Hlavaj stopped 16 of the 17 shots he faced.

Tim Heed scored the lone goal for Sweden as they could not solve Hlavaj. Victor Hedman played 45 minutes. Despite only making 13 saves Filip Gustavsson kept Sweden in it after some defensive lapses.
