With the Ottawa Senators acquiring former Vezina Trophy winning goaltender Linus Ullmark from the Boston Bruins we wanted to see if the trade would go through in NHL 24.
In NHL 24 Ullmark is rated 90 overall, Joonas Korpisalo 81 overall, and Mark Kastelic 77 overall. Since we could not ensure that Boston's draft pick was the same as it is in real life, it ended up being 28th and 31st overall in the trade proposals.
Understandably, Boston emphatically rejects the trade when initially proposed by Ottawa, saying the Senators have no offered enough in return for the 90 overall goaltender.
Shockingly, Ottawa rejected the initial proposal when we sent the trade as Boston, adamantly refusing to make the trade if they have to retain any salary on Korpisalo. Despite the draft pick they would be trading in the game being seven spots worse than the 24th overall pick they traded in real life the Senators still reject the deal.

Ultimately Ottawa enthusiastically accepted the trade proposal when we offered the deal as Boston without asking Ottawa to retain any salary on Korpisalo.
Senators fans in real life seem to be extremely happy with the trade for Ullmark while Bruins fans seem to be underwhelmed by the return for the 2023 Vezina and William M. Jennings Trophy winner.
NHL 24 seems to support these reactions as Boston wanted more for the trade and Ottawa fans were "cheering in the streets" once the deal was complete.
