Simulating what's to come in tonight's matchup between the Canucks and Oilers

Battle for the top spot in the Pacific Division

Continuing our Game Simulation series, today we simulated tonight's game between the Vancouver Canucks and the Edmonton Oilers.

A showdown for the top spot in the Pacific Division, Edmonton sits three points back of Vancouver, but they do have a game in hand. The Oilers will be without their superstar forward Connor McDavid. However, we did slide him into their lineup for our simulation as we anticipated he would play before the report came out.

Edmonton outshot Vancouver 17-4 in the first, but trailed 2-1. Both teams traded quick tallies in the second frame and headed into the third with the game knotted up at 4-4.

The third period saw another five goals being scored and it was Quinn Hughes' breakaway goal with 30 seconds left that sealed the Canucks victory, 7-6.

J.T. Miller recorded a hat trick, Brock Boeser had three assists, and Teddy Blueger scored twice.

The real-life matchup takes place at 10pm EST tonight in Edmonton where you know the home crowd will be buzzing and urging their team to inch closer to Vancouver in the standings.
