Looking at Marc-Andre Fleury's career through his NHL ratings

On Monday night Minnesota Wild goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury recorded his 552nd career win in his 1007th game, moving him into second place on the NHL all-time goalie wins list behind Martin Brodeur.
The 39-year-old is in the midst of his 20th NHL season, a storied career that has corresponded with the modernization of NHL video games.
Since being selected first overall by Pittsburgh in the 2003 entry draft Fleury has done nothing but meet expectations, winning three Stanley Cups, a Vezina, and a Jennings trophy. With this milestone we decided to take a look back at Fleury’s ratings on EA NHL game’s throughout his career.
Despite playing 21 games during the 2003-04 season Fleury did not appear in NHL 2004, he instead made his debut at a solid 87 overall in NHL 2005, which was released during the lockout.
Fleury’s rating peaked in NHL 12 when he and Ryan Miller tied as the highest rated goaltenders in the game at 91 overall. Fleury was often rated as a middle of the pack goaltender in the game until 2012 despite backstopping the Penguins to the Stanley Cup in 2009.
After his Vezina-winning season in 2020-21 Fleury was awarded a 90 overall in NHL 22. Currently sitting at 84 overall in NHL 24, Fleury’s rating is among the lowest it has been, but it could soon be boosted after his recent milestone.
