Josh "Fussy" Fuss takes home title

On Saturday the NHL 24 Stadium Series Open took place at the American Dream Mall in New Jersey. 

The Club Champions from the Philadelphia Flyers, New Jersey Devils, New York Rangers and New York Islanders were the four participants in the second NHL eSports LAN of the season.

The first round of the tournament was a 2v2 round robin, with the top two players advancing to a 1v1 Grand Finals. 

In game one DunkinDeli and Fussy took down Henreek and x Fisher 81 in a shootout.

Game two saw Fisher and DunkinDeli defeat Fussy and Henreek 6-2. 

Game three saw Fussy and Fisher control the game and defeat DunkinDeli and Henreek 6-1. 

After the completion of the three 2v2 games Fisher and Fussy advanced to the finals. Fisher, Fussy and DunkinDeli each finished with two wins, but Fisher had an extra point because of the overtime loss, while Fussy got the tiebreaker over DunkinDeli based on goal differential. 

After Fisher went up 2-1 early in the Grand Finals, Fussy responded with great defense and three unanswered goals to take home the Championship. 

Fisher put up a great performance after qualifying on Friday by winning the New York Islanders Club Championship. 

"I feel like I was doing a good job containing him, I was just playing some good defense, that's all you got to do to win some games just play some good defense guys," Fussy told Carrlyn Bathe and Cam "NoSleeves" Halbert on the NHL broadcast after the Grand Finals.

When asked about the new 2v2 format, Fussy had high praise for the gameplay, "The 2v2 format was so much fun, that was the sweatiest games that it could've possibly been."

Given all four players already qualified for the North American Bracket by winning their respective Club Championships, this tournament was exhibitiom.  

The stream had solid support on Twitch, peaking at 3000 viewers. 

The next event in the NHL 24 World Championship season is the North American Championship Open Play that begins on February 22nd. The next LAN is the European Championship in Copenhagen, Denmark on March 16-17th.
