The Underdogs take down Team One Nation

The Underdogs take down Team One Nation

Saturday, the Washington Capitals organization hosted the championship series of the NHL 24 CapsGaming Showcase between The Underdogs and One Nation. The best-of-five series was played live at the District E venue in Washington, D.C.

The Underdogs lost in the finals to Team IslesGT at the last NHL 24 6s tournament, the SJSharks Pacific Cup, so they were looking for redemption. One Nation had to take down two of the toughest NHL esports teams in CapsGaming and IslesGT to get to the finals.

It was a 3-0 series win for The Underdogs but don't assume they dominated every game. One Nation came ready to play and gave The Underdogs everything they got.

They dropped game one 3-2 and then game two required double overtime to finish it off. Both goalies made some incredible saves for their teams but ultimately it was Underdogs left winger Boily who capped off his hat trick to bring his team one win away from the championship.

Two minutes into game three, MaGik got One Nation on the board and looked primed to avoid the sweep. The Underdogs though had different plans. One of the best players in the NHL 6s esports scene, Loko Crusty (right winger for The Underdogs), carried his team to victory scoring a hat trick and sealing the CapsGaming Showcase title.

This marks the first major esports tournament victory for The Underdogs organization. As winners, they took home $10,000.

One Nation, though disappointed coming so close, take home the runner-up prize of $5,000.
