Phil Kessel and Tage Thompson headline second batch of cards

The second batch of Community Request players have been released in NHL 24 HUT, adding 10 new highly requested cards to the market.

Of the new players three are active NHL players, five are retired or unsigned NHL players, one is a PWHL player and one is an ECHL player.

The players are a fun mix of size and skill that allow players to use them for different gameplay styles. All cards are 93 overall, one higher than the first Community Request release.

Many of these players including Thompson, Gill, Miller and Boyko are 6'5 or above and good skaters, these cards will immediately be part of the meta as size is incredibly sought after this year.

It is great to see Landeskog and Kessel get cards, both have been in the news this year but have not played any NHL games.

  • Gill and Miller are defensemen that specialize in defense, they come with Shutdown and Truculence respectively.
  • Boyko is a 6'7 goaltender and will likely be highly effective, tall goaltenders tend to be favored and are thought to be better than smaller goalies.
  • Coyne-Schofield is only 5'5 but comes with 99 speed and Unstoppable Force, she will be great if you are looking for speed or are building a women's team.
  • Jokinen and Koivu are two Finnish fan favorites who are well-rounded players with above average offensive and defensive stats. Both have great faceoff skill.
  • Sharp and Kessel are both quick wingers with good shots. Sharp comes with 99 speed while Kessel has 99 wrist shot power and accuracy.
  • Thompson and Landeskog are power forwards with good strength and balance. Thompson's size makes him a popular card, having Total Eclipse as his Zone Ability is not the ideal but he is a great card nonetheless. Landeskog comes with Unstoppable Force.

With only three reveals planned for NHL 24 Team of The Season it is safe to assume that Community Request cards will continue.
