Pelech and Ekholm lead new group
Four new Prototype Custom Defensive Defensemen Builds have been released in NHL 24 Hockey Ultimate Team.
HUT has had a lack of defensive defenders this season as there are currently only eight defensive defensemen that are 90 overall or above. These four cards become the highest rated defensive defensemen in the game.
Zdeno Chara, Victor Hedman and Robyn Regehr have been the most popular DFDs this season, largely because of their size.
The four new additions are below.

- All four of these cards come with the same synergies and abilities. They have the Shutdown Zone Ability and the Defensive Defenseman and Defensive Boost Synergies. The three Superstar Abilities are Quick Pick, Truculence and Ice Pack.
- Pelech, Ekholm and Slavin are all 6'3 or above, which is often sought after in defensemen.
- All four cards come with 99 defensive awareness, shot blocking and stick checking.
- Pelech is the most well-rounded of the four cards, with a hard shot, good body checking and serviceable hands.
- Lindgren comes with 99 body checking and the best speed of the four at 95.
- Ekholm has good balance, a good shot and is the biggest of the new releases.
- Slavin has at least a 90 overall in every hands stat and comes with 95 discipline and durability.
Adam Pelech is currently the cheapest of these cards in the Auction House, going for around 145,000 coins.
