In hopes of bringing some of the chel player base back, NHL 24 has introduced a fun new online competitive event in Hockey Ultimate Team — The HUT Champions Icons Event.
The event is live in the game and will roll until Monday, Jun. 17. To participate in the new HUT Champs season, a player’s roster must have a full lineup of 20 base icon player cards. Players must play a minimum of two games to earn a rank, up to a maximum of 20 games.
Rankings and rewards for HUT Champions Icons will be processed on the following Tuesday, Jun. 18 at 2pm PST.
Players will receive packs for each win they get, with the quality of packs getting better with each win.
The highlight of his event is getting up to 10 victories, which will earn players the new 97 overall, Dave Andreychuk Base Icon card. HUT users who want a top-of-the-line left winger card will want to get their paws on this bad boy.

Andreychuk essentially has maxed out skating, shooting, and hands stats while standing at 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds. He also comes with Unstoppable Force as a superstar ability, making this card a wall when he’s got ahold of the puck.
With this event comes six new objectives with a reward of a six-times base icon players pack once every challenge is complete.
Hopefully, in NHL 25, the Hockey Ultimate Team developers will continue to create these fun short events where they are limiting players to what kind of cards they can use in their lineup. This makes it more challenging and can even out the playing field.
