NHL 24's HUT Team of the Week features 'The Great One' and alumni from Edmonton and Florida

NHL 24’s recently released team of the week in Hockey Ultimate Team features alumni players from the two teams dueling it out for the Stanley Cup — Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers — and a new 97 overall Wayne Gretzky card.

Gretzky’s new card beats out his ultimate power up icons card. Both cards are pretty much 99-rated cards, but, the abilities on his team of the week card I would argue offer a better selection.

His UPC card offers Unstoppable Force for its zone ability, which is beneficial to put on considering Wayne is only six feet and 185 pounds. Despite that, I would bet that chel players would rather have Wheels, which is on his new TOTW card. Also, Wheels and Elite Edges paired up together provide players with a deadly combination, while having max skating stats.

Former Oiler Ales Hemsky has a terrific card as well with max skating stats also. His hands stats are all maxed out outside of offensive awareness and his card is one that fans who love to stickhandle and make flashy moves will love to play with.

The other two Edmonton alumni represented (with 96 overall cards) are defenseman Kevin Lowe and goaltender Bill Ranford.

For the Florida Panthers, they are represented by a player who helped change their franchise around, just not in the way you would normally think. Panthers fans have a lot of thanking to do to Jonathan Huberdeau since he helped the team acquire Matthew Tkachuk.

Just like Hemsky’s, Huberdeau’s new card has the maxed out hands stats and abilities to choose from to help you dangle your opponents out there, and beat goaltenders one-on-one. The other Florida alumni is defenseman Gord Murphy.
