Canadian forward Adam Cracknell, 39, has signed a one-year contract with HK Poprad, the Slovak Liga club announced on Tuesday.

“Thank you to the club for the trust and the opportunity,” said Cracknell. “I can’t wait for myself and my family to become members of the Poprad community. I’m looking forward to meeting the team and I believe we will have an amazing season.”

Originally a ninth-round pick by the Calgary Flames in 2004, Cracknell played 210 NHL regular-season games with the St. Louis Blues, Columbus Blue Jackets, Vancouver Canucks, Edmonton Oilers, Dallas Stars, New York Rangers and Anaheim Ducks, recording 43 points and 46 penalty minutes. He also played in 10 playoff games – all with the Blues in 2013 and 2014 – scoring one goal.

Cracknell last saw NHL action in the 2018-19 season. Since then, he played a season in the KHL and part of another in Denmark before returning to North America. He played last season for the AHL’s Henderson Silver Knights, tallying 35 points in 59 games. Cracknell has 510 points in 795 career regular-season and playoff AHL games.

Internationally, Cracknell played for Canada at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, where he tallied one assist in five games.

“I welcome Adam to the team,” said Poprad sports director Július Koval. “He is an experienced player who has an extensive career behind him. He is a leader and I believe that he will pass on his experience to younger players and help them in their career growth.”
