After the conclusion of its regular season this week, the Champions Hockey League announced its schedule for the round of 16, which will be played between Nov. 12 and 20. The 16 playoff teams have been paired off based on their regular-season records and will play a two-game, total-goal series with the lower-seeded team playing the first game at home and the higher seed playing at home in the return leg.
The winners on aggregate score advance to the quarterfinals. There will be no overtime played after the first game, even if it's tied. If the total score is tied after 120 minutes of hockey, the winner will be decided by a 10-minute 3-on-3 overtime period, followed by a shootout. Unlike in UEFA soccer, there is no "away goals count double" rule.
