Derek O'Brien - Champions Hockey League draw held in Prague on Wednesday, opponents for 2024-25 known

The Champions Hockey League held the draw for its 10th season on Wednesday in Prague – the off day of the IIHF World Championship between the group stage and the playoffs, which is when it’s traditionally held. It was the second draw to feature the competition’s “groupless” format, similar to the one that will be in use during soccer’s UEFA Champions League this upcoming season as well.

In the graphic below are the logos of the 24 teams that will compete in the 2024-25 CHL season. Each team will play three of the teams in the column to the left at home and three of the teams in the column to the right on the road, for a total of six regular-season games. They will not play the teams in the same row as them.

The 24 teams consist of three each from the founding six leagues – Sweden, Finland, Czechia, Germany, Switzerland and Austria – with an additional berth for defending champion Genève-Servette HC from Switzerland. The remaining five spots have gone to the champions of Norway, Denmark, France, Great Britain and Poland.

The top 16 teams advance to the playoffs, where three rounds of home-and-away series will determine the two finalists.

The 2024-25 Champions Hockey League season will begin on September 5 and finish with the one-game final on February 18.
