Colorado sheds salary as the power forward heads to Ohio. Nichushkin brings top-six scoring potential to Columbus, where he looks to ignite a lethal partnership with Kirill Marchenko.

The Colorado Avalanche made another move today, this time sending Russian forward Valeri Nichushkin to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

This is the third move that the Avalanche have made in the last two weeks in an attempt to clear as much cap space as they can.

Now, Nichushkin will join a Blue Jackets' team that appears to be caught in the middle. However, he could be the perfect linemate for fellow countrymen Kirill Marchenko.

For the Blue Jackets, acquiring Nichushkin is a step in the right direction. Last season, they took a chance on Mason Marchment, but it didn't always seem like the fit was there. However, with Nichushkin, his style could fit in well within the Blue Jackets' top six.

He is coming off a season where he had 17 goals and 32 assists for 49 points in 72 games. He has spent the last seven seasons with the Avalanche, but before that he played for the Dallas Stars for four seasons.

He has scored 154 goals and 203 assists for 257 points in 627 games over his 11 year career.
