

NHL Central Scouting released its final rankings for the 2025 NHL Entry Draft on Tuesday and, among the international skaters, to no one’s surprise, the Djurgården pair of center Anton Frondell and right winger Victor Eklund top the list.
In his mid-season rankings, THN’s Ryan Kennedy ranked Eklund fifth and Frondell 10th at this year’s draft, while THN’s Tony Ferrari ranked them both among the top prospects to watch in Europe this season.
Both players are on the Djurgården team that is about to take on local Stockholm rival AIK in the Allsvenskan finals, with the winner earning a spot in next season’s SHL. Both players are currently signed with the club through the 2025-26 season.
Center Milton Gastrin of MoDo of the top Swedish junior league takes third place, while the first non-Swede is ranked fourth in the form of Vojtěch Čihař, who had 10 points in 51 regular-season and playoff games in the Czech Extraliga this season.
The top Russian-based player is Alexander Zharovsky, who plays in the MHL – that country’s top junior circuit.
|n fact, seven of the top 10 are Swedish-based players. Eddie Genborg in sixth scored two goals in 28 games for Linköping this season, and has already signed with Timrå for next season. Another Djurgården center, Eric Nilson, is seventh and Jakob Ihs Wozniak of Luleå is eighth.
The first two defensemen on the list – Russian Kurban Limatov and Swede Theodor Hallquisth – round out the top 10.

Victor Eklund: “It’s Gone Quite Well So I’ll Just Continue With It”
Victor Eklund is off to a flying start in his draft year. The 18-year-old left winger has seven goals and four assists in 13 games for Djurgården in the HockeyAllsvenskan, Sweden’s second-tier professional league. Last Friday, he netted a hat trick in a 7-6 shootout loss to Björklöven.
Beyoned this list, the top Finland-based player is Lasse Boelius of Ässät at 12th, the top player in Slovakia is Tomáš Pobežal of HK Nitra in 27th, and the top player ranked in Switzerland is Robin Antanen of EV Zug in 74th.
By contrast, the top two ranked international goalies are both in Russia – Pyotr Andreyanov and Semyon Frolov of CSKA Moscow and Spartak Moscow repectively, both in the MHL. Elijah Neuenschwander of Fribourg-Gottéron in Switzerland is third and Mans Goos of Färjestad in Sweden is fourth.
