Kuznetsov is a free agent again.

Longtime NHL forward Evgeny Kuznetsov is officially a free agent again.

Kuznetsov and Sibir Novosibirsk of the KHL have agreed to a mutual contract termination. This comes shortly after Kuznetsov joined the KHL club during the off-season.

Sibir Novosibirsk shared that the reason for the mutual contract termination is due to a family issue.

Kuznetsov appeared in eight games with Novosibirsk Sibir this season, where he posted two goals, four points, and 12 penalty minutes.

Kuznetsov returned to the KHL ahead of the 2024-25 season and has become quite the journeyman since. He has had stints with SKA St. Petersburg, Metallurg Magnitogorsk, Salavat Yulaev Ufa, and, of course, Sibir Novosibirsk.

Before returning to the KHL, Kuznetsov put together a strong NHL career. In 743 career NHL games over 11 season split between the Washington Capitals and Carolina Hurricanes, he posted 173 goals, 402 assists, 575 points, and a plus-38 rating. He also won the Stanley Cup with the Capitals back in 2018.
