Canadian winger Tyler Angle, 23, has signed a one-year contract with Düsseldorfer EG, the DEL club announced on Friday.
A native of Niagra Falls, Ontario, Angle played junior hockey for the OHL’s Windsor Spitfires and was a seventh-round draft pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2019. Over the past four seasons, Angle has played four NHL games with Columbus, scoring one goal. Over that same time period, he has exactly 100 points in 200 AHL regular-season games with the Cleveland Monsters. He also has three points in nine AHL playoff games.
“I am very pleased to have found the last piece of the puzzle for our squad in Tyler Angle,” said club sports director Niki Mondt. “He is young, fast and ambitious and can be used in a variety of ways. Tyler has a lot of potential and, given his age, a lot of experience. This means that the personnel planning is complete. We will start the season with the current squad.”
In Düsseldorf, Angle joins fellow Canadian and ex-NHLer Kyle Cumiskey. The team also has players with international experience, such as German wingers Philip Gogulla and Alexander Ehl and Norwegian goaltender Henrik Haukeland. The team’s head coach is former NHLer Steven Reinprecht.
