Ex-Coyote Finds New Team In Germany

Canadian center Tyler Gaudet, 31, has signed a contract to play for Düsseldorfer EG for the remainder of the season, the German DEL club announced on Tuesday.

“Tyler Gaudet is a very good center who knows the league very well,” said DEG sports director Niki Mondt. “He is a complete center, physical, good defensively and also a goal threat. Tyler will certainly help us and give the squad more depth.”

Hailing from Hamilton, Ontario, Gaudet played junior hockey for the OHL’s Soo Greyhounds before spending the years 2014 to 2021 playing in the organizations of the Arizona Coyotes, Nashville Predators and Toronto Maple Leafs. He only played NHL games with the Coyotes, recording four points in 20 games.

Gaudet has spent the past three seasons in the DEL, one season with Grizzlys Wolfsburg and then two with Adler Mannheim. He has 90 points in 132 regular-season and playoff games.

Through nine games this season, Düsseldorf still has not won a game in regulation time and is last in the 14-team DEL.

Gaudet is expected to arrive in Düsseldorf in the coming days, the club’s website reported. Coach Steven Reinprecht will decide on short notice whether he will be used in the games against Kölner Haie and Mannheim this weekend.
